Computers 9 : Choose your own adventure

Aloha! You will make a choose your own adventure game in Flash with a partner.

The only code snippets you will need to use are stop and click to go to scene ___.

You will need sounds, movie clips,  tweens, step by step keyframes,  and 16 scenes.

Make sure every scene has sound, movement and advances the story in a cool and interesting way. Have the buttons active at the end of the scene, so the player can make a choice after seeing the action.

The scene breakdown is Titlepage, First choice, and then 14 other scenes, for a total of eight different endings, with at least one good ending on either side of the flowchart. You can arrange your scenes differently if you like, as long as you have the right number of scenes (or more)?

choose your own adventure

You will have a few classes for this project, so all your art has to be great. As always, no sketching stuff from the net, no using art from the net, and no stick people.

One partner can use numbers for their scenes, the other should use letters.

To rename your scenes click Window, other panels, scenes. Then you double click the scene to rename it.

Computers 9 Switcher!

Hi there party people,

tumblr_mrse8vBiUP1sewz1yo1_500.gif

and non-party people as well. Today you are going to learn how to use code snippets, and how to make a simple switching program that uses buttons to go to scenes.

This project is going to have two parts. The first is just to practice the code, and the second is to have two endings.

The first part will have a button with a number 1 on it. Clicking the button will make animate play scene 2, which will just have a number 2 on it. There will be a restart button on scene 2 that will go to scene one There will be another button on the first scene labelled 2, and clicking it will make animate go to and play scene 3.  Scene 3 will just have the number 2, and then it will go back to scene 1 after some time.

To use a code snippet, click on window and choose Code Snippets

code snippet 1

Then Click on the ActionScript folder

code snippet 2

Then Click on Timeline Navigation and we will use Stop at this Frame and Click to Go to Scene and Play. We will use stop at this frame to prevent Animate from going through all the scenes. We will make a button that moves around the timeline with Click to Go to Scene and Play.

code snippet 3.PNG

OK. Let’s start the easy one. Create a new action Script 3.0 document and draw two shapes. Label them 1 and 2.

buttons set up.PNG

Now create a button with one of the shapes selected.

buttons set up 2

Then Add the code with code snippets. Make sure to change the highlighted number to 2 for one, and you can leave it on 3 for the other button.

buttons set up 3

Follow those two steps with the other button, remember that you can leave the scene on 3 for this second button.

Then go down the timeline a bit, make a keyframe and put the stop on this frame code snippet in. buttons set up 4

Then make scenes 2 and 3, just with a number 1 on scene 2 and a number 2 on scene 3.

use the stop on this frame code for both scenes.

Last thing, make a restart button for both scene 2 and 3 that will take the user back to scene 1.

And you’re done!

hand it in as easy switch.

Now make a more complicated version with 2 little animated scenes. Hand that in as choice one.

CLE-10 Unit 3.4 Help / Example

Hello,

The assignments for this unit are going to be spread out over two days. Please make sure to always watch the videos so you understand more. Today please do Reflection: checking for security first. This assignment is pretty straight forward. Just go to three sites of specific types (bank, sports, and online sales and check for the safety features mentioned.

Online sales sites would be like Amazon, etc.

The second part of the assignment for today is to create a simple budget.

Please include a reasonable source of income for a student, if you don’t actually have any income right now.

Here is an example of the start of a simple budget. It doesn’t include all possible expenses, or income sources, it is just a simple example. Your budget should have more items.
