Computers 9 10 Course Outline

Hi,

In this class we will be introduced to a few different parts of the Adobe Software Suite like Photoshop, Animate, and Illustrator. We will also do some programming through a program like Construct 3 or Greenfoot. We will do a Minecraft Education Edition Project or 2 if we have time.

Photoshop is an image manipulation program that can be use to alter, combine and edit the appearance of images.

Animate is a 2D animation program, which is a way of saying it’s a program for making movies from pictures.

Illustrator is a drawing program that uses vector graphics.

Minecraft is a building program that uses a 3d avatar who can manipulate blocks.

Course Outline: Desktop Publishing Media Design

Media design is the new name for desktop publishing. Desktop publishing got it’s name because before computers were affordable and available, people had to go to a printing company to get signs, brochures, posters etc printed. With computers, software, and printers available at home, people could to that stuff on their desktop computers. So in this class we will learn about various aspects of design theory and produce projects that will teach us how to use Adobe Illustrator to create and layout (design) different things. Sometime it will be a project to learn a technique and other times it will be a project to encourage our creative thinking and improve our artistic ability.

DTP MD 9~10: Pro logo

Imagine Surrey gets a professional sports team franchise. It can be any league in the world, from NHL, NFL, NBA, to Premier League or Cricket. Your assignment is to design the team logo. Incorporate the city of Surrey, the name of the team, and elements of the sport in to the logo. What animal or item should the team have? What are the positive things in Surrey you can add to the logo? What colors should your logo have?

DTP MD 9~10: Color wheel Tetradic Bird

 Make a beautiful and cool bird using Tetradic colors. This means four colors evenly spaced on the color wheel. Have one color as the main and the others as accents. Make the drawing a close up shot, include as much detail as  you can. Even if you are making your bird up, look at real bird pictures so you get the small details correct.  The bird can be in flight, perched on a branch, or on the ground. Ensure that the bird is the main focus of the illustration. It can be any kind of bird you like, or an imaginary bird.

DTP MD 9~10: Color Wheel Try to make a cool Triadic Flag

Triadic colors are three colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel. This make for high contrast.

You have been chosen to create a new flag for a country in triadic colors. Have two shapes of symbols that you draw yourself  on your flag to make it stand out. The symbols should reflect something important about the country. You can use a real country, use a fake country from an anime, movie, book or game,  or make up your own.
