Computers 9 10 Project Ocelot: Fish Jump

Animate 1: Fish jump

Hello,

Today I want you to get familiar again or become familiar with the basic animate interface.

The interface looks a bit different this year, but it works the same way.

I want you to start animate, and then choose a size for the document.

Choose a size that fits easily in the middle of your screen, and make sure you change the type to actionscript 3.0 if it comes up as Canvas.

Change the workspace to Classic, and you will have the tools on the right, the stage in the bottom middle, and the timeline on top.

The symbol for adding a layer is the + symbol, just like in photoshop.

The brush tool and shape tools work basically the same as photoshop as well. Here is Abobe’s overview for the tools: LINK

The major difference between photoshop and the animate is the timeline.

Doing the gif project gave you a kind of preview of the timelime, but animates is much better.

Here is adobes explanation of the timeline, frames and keyframes. LINK

Please click that link and look over those first three parts. To make a keyframe you go to the place on the timeline where you want something to change, then hit F6 on the top row of your keyboard. Now you can change something about the movie that is on that layer.

Here is the tutorial from last year about how animate works.

You can read this over and see if it makes sense, but don’t make that truck! LINK

Read all that stuff over and then start the fish jump project.

For this year’s first project, I want you to make a fish that swims under water, and then jumps up out of the water and then splashes back in.

You should have a fish layer, a water layer, a splash layer, and another layer you think you need.

Make the animation last around 2 seconds or longer. Bonus points for creativity and realistic movement.
